There is a huge cave located 45 feet above from the surface at the
South-West coast of Sagi River. It is divided into two parts, having attached
an artistic frame of marble, to the centre. The statue of Maa Chamunda is set
in the first cave room and Bhurbhuwasweshwar in the second. Lord Bhurbhuwasweshwar
is called Bhurbhuwasweshwar in regional tongue. Actually, all the three Bhu,
Bhurwa and Swa have been incarnated and exposed to view. Because of the great penance of Bhu,
Bhuwa and Swa, Lord Shiva is called Bhurbhuwasweshwar.

There is located a miraculous Swaymbhu Shivalinga in the cave from
ancient time, made of black stone, 9 inch high.

|
There are the statues of Lord Vishnu, Mahishasura Mardini and
their devotees on the eastern wall and a tunnel in the South-East corner.

|
Lord Bhurbhuwasweshwar has been worshipped in the Shrimal Mahatmya.
Having delighted with their devotion, Lord Shiva promised Bhu, Bhuwa and
Swa that He would reside here and abolish the fear of death in the hearts
of the devotees who visited this place.

The inscription of 1262 A.D., placed in the temple, says
about the invocation of Lord Bhurbhuwasweshwar.
